How Can We Help?
This error could have two solutions.
Solution #1 (usually the answer when the error occurs printing to PDF)
If you’re running into this error when attempting to print to PDF, it’s likely that the PPT+ PDF Writer didn’t install properly on your machine (during full program or workstation installation). To remedy this, we just need to (re)install that PDF writer. To do that, navigate to folder in which the program is installed. (If you don’t know where it is, just go into the program, close the returns list, click Help, then About. There is a line “program path” that shows the path… and a folder button at the end of that line. Just click that button, and it will open a Windows Explorer window in the correct location.) Inside that program folder, you’ll find another folder “\pdf writer”. Double click on that to open it. Inside that folder, locate the file “setup.exe” and double click on it to run it. Just ‘next’ your way thru the install – there’s nothing to change. Upon completion, it will open a web page with instructions on it – just close that. At this point, things should be all set… try printing to PDF again, and it SHOULD work.
Solution #2
This error indicates that PPT+ is attempting to access the printer spooler for a printer that doesn’t exist – or at least doesn’t exist on the port or IP address that PPT+ is attempting to access.
Even if we’re printing to PDF, there still must be an existing printer selected. The printer selected may actually be correct, by name – but may have converted thru from the prior year, and perhaps the port or IP address that came thru with it is now incorrect. To remedy this, just go into the Print screen, select ‘printer’ as the destination, so that the ‘current printer’ dialog at the bottom of that screen is visible. Click the ‘current printer’ button, and select (or re-select) the printer. That’s it – now printing to anything should cooperate.
